A large number of primary schools and secondary schools as the place for students to accept the nine-year compulsory education in China spread widely.With the great changes of the economy and society,the dramatic changes of urban-rural structure,the overall improvement of population strategy in recent decades in our nation,primary and secondary schools have experienced constant evolution and reconstruction,and gradually become comprehensive,social and cultural sites to meet the requirements of education and the development of student in all aspects.Increasingly diversified teaching methods and increasingly complex composition structure lead to a more demand of coordination and adaptation of the overall planning of the campus,the independent function of various types of buildings and.In recent years,there has been a large number of public basic education facilities donated by charities or organizations for poor areas or specific populations,especially compulsory education schools.This type of school has limited space and condition to complete the design and construction of campus,and put into operation as soon as possible.It not only simply meet the teaching needs,but also the local natural climate and other regional characteristics,while adapting to the developing trend of contemporary education.How to use the modularization method to design these charity schools in the west of Hunan is the focus of this thesis.This paper,regarding the modularization concept and the facts of the west of Hunan as the research background,charity compulsory schools as the object of research,the west of Hunan charity primary and secondary school modular design as the research content,on point of view of the modular structure and contemporary educational concept,positioning in the remote areas of poverty and ethnic minorities in the west of Hunan,analyzing the facts and the existing problems,explore how to meet the need for meaningful sites of primary and secondary student,to provide targeted reference and suggestions for the design method of same type of schools.This paper is divided into seven chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,analyzes the research background and the fact of the region,introduce the related research current situation about charity compulsory school and modularization at home and abroad as well as the method,the angle of view,the content and the frame of this study.The second chapter at first describes the development path of modularization theory,the advantages and significance of modular method for architecture,summarizes the examples of primary and secondary schools adopting modular design methods at home and abroad and analyzes their characteristics.Then reviews the development process of the basic education schools in China and the West and draws the inspiration to the design of modern primary and middle schools.Combined with the above two,it clarifies the advantages and points of the modular design methods of the charity schools.The third chapter is the detailed research of the planning of the charity schools in the west of Hunan,including the location,function layout,space configuration,traffic organization and surrounding landscape of schools to adapt to students' learning activities and social behavior patterns.The fourth chapter is the strategic analysis of the architectural modular design of the charity schools in the west of Hunan.And regarding the whole campus as the object of study,this paper systematically explores the various types of buildings and internal structure,the functional modules of suitable size are designed and the well organized horizontally and vertically in a reasonable way,and pays attention to the possibility of diversified traffic space.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the possibility and the accessibility of the modular design of the primary and middle schools,including how to obtain the unity of the ecology and the regional context under the local conditions,how to implant the concept and elements of the Chinese traditional garden into the modern campus,and how to use limited space of the multi-functional combination,how to achieve the interaction between the campus and the surrounding community,county and city by this small cultural center.The last chapter,combining with three practical cases which have been completed,further clarifies the adaptability and maneuverability of the design method and layout principle mentioned above,and provides a practical and effective reference for the modular design of charity schools in west of Hunan,and a meaningful reference for the design of a wider range of similar types of public basic education facilities at the same time.
