The Research On The Place Semantics Of Huxiang Architectural Environment Symbols

Architecture is an important carrier of human culture and Huxiang architecture is the main symbol carrier of Huxiang culture.As the carrier of traditional Chinese culture,there are a variety of unique visual communication symbols in Huxiang architecture and environment.Huxiang architecture,which is a semantic environment with diverse connotations,brings people a semantic environment full of specific symbol.However,under the globalization and the rapid development of science and technology,regional characteristics of the modern Chinese architecture become less prominent and the design process becomes faster.The phenomenon results in repetition of architectural visual symbols and less change of modern building materials.It also indicates that the "crisis of meaning" of contemporary building environment becomes more and more prominent.This paper analyzes the semantics and its related factors of the environmental symbols of Huxiang architectural.The investigation is carried out according to knowledge of the architectural semiotics.And the breakthrough point of this paper is from the perspective of the "crisis of meaning" of the modern architectural.This paper contains five parts.They are listed as follows:In the first part,the background and previous research on Huxiang architecture are reviewed.The purpose and significance of this study are listed.In the second part,the symbolic meaning of the Huxiang architectural is analyzed.The analysis is carried out from the view of symbols,semiotics,architectural symbols.Representative of the Huxiang architectural symbols is obtained according to detailed example.In the third part,the multiple semantics of Huxiang architectural symbol is analyzed.Huxiang architectural symbol,which is existed in the regional and social culture,is strongly connected with national culture,politics,economy and so on.The spirit of the times,customs,traditional rites,culture and education are also reflected by Huxiang architectural symbol.In the fourth part,the application of connotation of Huxiang architectural symbol in modern architecture design is studied.The study of this part is carried out in order to achieve the purpose of inheritance and development of regional culture of Huxiang architecture.Besides,the study also provides references for modern architectural design,which may solve the "crisis of meaning" of modern architectural.
