The Research On Alleviating The Cognitive Load Of The Elderly Intelligent Product Based On Object-oriented Design Theory

As more and more children choose to work in another places,the elderly feel even more lonely.It is one of the psychological characteristics of the elderly.So the purpose of the research is to reduce the cognitive load of older persons when they use intelligence products by using the object-oriented design theory.Significance lies in that it is no longer strange for the elderly to use intelligent products,so intelligent products can maximize convenience,enrich their lives and reduce their sense of isolation,strengthen the links between them and their children as well as society’s.However,compared to the young the eyesight,hearing ability or understanding of the elderly are all lower.When they accomplish the same task,the elderly will undertaken more severe cognitive load.Cognitive load refers to the amount of the resource when the person utilize cognitive knowledge to deal with the surrounding environment or internal information processing consumed.This paper details the internal cognitive load,external cognitive load and associated cognitive load,and utilize them to analyze the load source and load form when they use the older phones.Then I analyze the "target","role" and "scene" of the goal-oriented design theory,and according to the requirement of the“role”,I choose four different groups of older persons from the rural and urban because they possess different knowledge structure due to the different levels of education.Then we get on questionnaire and measure the objective data,and identify problems when the elderly use the phone.Finally,according to object-oriented design theory,we lighten the cognitive load when the elderly use the mobile phones from three aspects including internal,external,and relationship.Finally according to the conclusions we carry on the elderly mobile interface redesign.
