The YaXi Highway connecting YaAn city and XiChang city of SiChuan province is considered as a unique project with great difficulty because of the unstable geological conditions,the complex climate and the fragile ecosystem.Hence the Gan Hai Zi spiral tunnel and the Tie Zhai Zi NO.1 spiral tunnel were designed and constructed to minimize the longitudinal gradient,to avoid the unfavorable geological conditions,to protect the wild animals like panda and the precious plants.According to the background of the project,this thesis was written to review the process of site selection,design and constructing and to find as many risky elements as possible from it.And then the thesis dealt with the risky elements by FTA(Fault Tree Analysis)? RMA(Risk Matrix Analysis)and BCM(Borda Count Method)to identify and evaluate them.With the conclusion,the author analyzed the current situation of the risk management of the spiral tunnels,providing suggestions on the operation mode,the key work and the emergency rescue to reduce the probability of the risk elements,improving the safety management of the spiral tunnels.And in addition,it has been almost 5 years since YaXi Highway came into common use.During these 5 years,the operators and the highway enforcement officials have gotten many experiences.As the safety management might be the key to the operation of these spiral tunnels,the author also tried to make further efforts to optimize it by analyzing and refining the collection of experiences systematically.
