China is currently working on the improvement of rural economy, politics, culture and society. And China build up the new socialist countryside with prosperous economy, solid infrastructure, beautiful environment.Rural house design,as an important part of new rural construction, directly impact daily life and work of residents. Most of the rural residence in Hebei province lack of regional characteristics and there are large energy consumption and serious environmental pollution. So it's a significant task to embody regional characteristics and reduce energy depletion and environmental pollution on the basis of residents' demand during the design and improvement of rural residence. The research is carried out at Taiping Village,Huai'an County,Zhangjiakou City of Northern Province and Luanxie villge,Baita County,Shahe City of Southern Hebei Province. The fundamental principles are low-cost,small construction difficulty and viable and easy function.Starting point of the research of the traditional dwelling, use methods of passive and sustainable technology and BIM.The research aims at exploring the possibilities of improving living quality and building low-energy,and regional characteristics dwellings.During the design, the writer works on residential prototype design with universal recognition and general applicability. The paper digs into the nature of “origin” and exact, purify and integrate the “sensibility” of regional residential construction through classifying, exacting, and evolving.Through using BIM,the paper provides “rational” performance analysis and scheme optimization to the design. The final purpose is to provide scientific design basis and approach for local people rebuilding their house.
