Light truck is an important segment of the vehicle, its demand will remain at a relatively stable level for a long time. As the key part of the light truck, the vehicle frame assembly has great influence on the manufacturing cost and the use cost of the vehicle. With the improvement of vehicle requirements, the need for the current frame assembly for further structural optimization, reduce the quality, reduce the cost. The main research contents are:(1) Describes the structure and characteristics of light truck frame assembly, a frame assembly for linear static analysis, including the fully loaded bending condition, full of distortion condition, emergency braking and emergency turn four conditions, stress analysis, fatigue analysis modal analysis of three kinds of stress situation, and the working conditions are in order to meet the basic requirements of simplified finite element calculation.(2)The principle of modeling and simplifying the frame components is established, and the 3D solid model of the frame component and assembly is established by using Works Solid software. The use of ANSYS Workbench software, established the finite element model of frame assembly, first of all, the frame assembly of linear static analysis, obtained the fully loaded bending condition, full of distortion condition, emergency braking and emergency turn four under the conditions of maximum deformation, maximum deformation, maximum stress, maximum stress then, mark point; load condition analysis, calculate the frame assembly life and equivalent alternating stress. The linear static analysis and fatigue analysis of the existing light truck frame are all in line with the requirements. Finally, the modal analysis is carried out, and the three mode cloud image of the frame assembly is obtained, which provides a basis for the whole vehicle vibration control.(3)The light truck frame assembly topology optimization analysis, determine the frame position of the lightweight design of vehicle assembly, carriage assembly and the frame assembly design is optimized, and the optimized frame assembly were linear static analysis, fatigue analysis and modal analysis. The linear static analysis and fatigue analysis of the frame assembly of light truck after optimization are in line with the requirements.After optimization, the weight of the frame is reduced by 5%. In the linear static analysis, the maximum stress is reduced by 20.5% and the maximum deformation is reduced by 38%. The equivalent alternating stress is reduced by 52%.The research work of this paper provides an important reference for the lightweight design and structural optimization of the other truck frame assembly, which lays the foundation for the follow-up work.
