China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp.Ltd(CCEED)is a limited company.subordinating to China State Construction Engineering Corporation(CSCEC)which is the world's largest construction enterprise(ranked 37 in the world top 500).CCEED's comprehensive strength is ranked forefront among all the subsidiary companies of CSCEC.This paper is aimed at summing up the successful experiences in the quality management of Huaneng building project built by CCEED and refining the key factors and thus bringing about greater benefits for the company.The Huaneng building where is China Huaneng Group Headquarters,is located at the Xidan intersection of Chang'an Avenue in Beijing and the construction area is 128 thousand square meters.In the early stage of project construction,the project quality management system is relatively sound and the level is comparatively high.However,there is still a large gap between the requirements of the construction unit to achieve the quality management objectives.The project finally obtained the National Quality Engineering Award,the American LEED certified gold medal and the Zhan Tianyou prize by adopting the relevant theories and methods of quality management to significantly improve the quality management level.In this paper,a case study is used to explore the quality management of Huaneng building project.First of all,in this paper the related theories of project quality management,including quality management principles,processes,principles and tools are reviewed.Secondly,the main conditions of the CCEED,the quality management objectives,difficulties as well as key points are introduced.According to the quality management problems in the process of Huaneng building construction,the factors are analyzed by causality diagram method.The results show the major factors are people and administration,including failing to carry out the total quality control in terms of customer-centric,imperfect quality management system,lack control of process quality.The measures contributing to improve the project quality management in Huaneng building project are summarized,such as implementing total quality management,improving the quality management system and enhancing process quality control.Finally,the key elements of the project quality management success are further refined through case study analysis,which expects to provide valuable reference in the industry.
