Nuclear reactor power control system, as one of the most important parts of nuclear power plant, takes on the dual task ensuring the safety of the reactor and improving the economic efficiency of the reactor. Because the nuclear reactor is a complex nonlinear system in nature, the traditional control method is difficult to fully meet the requirement of power control. In addition, during the peak shaving process, reactor power needs to be changed frequently and substantially as the requirements of power grid. The existing power control system faces great challenges. In order to improve the load- following capability of nuclear power plant, the reactor power control system is designed by using the fuzzy predictive control method.Based on the T-S fuzzy model, the fuzzy control theory is combined with three common kinds of predictive control methods in this paper. Fuzzy dynamic matrix controller, fuzzy generalized predictive controller and fuzzy predictive controller based on state equation are designed for the point reactor neutron kinetics equation. And the last controller is extended to the reactor power model which includes the fuel and coolant temperature feedback and Xenon Poison feedback. Based on three different predictive control theories, the nuclear power model is linearized by three different methods in the design process. The local predictive controllers are designed for the linearized model, and those local controllers of the linear equations are unified in global range with strong nonlinearity by using the parallel distributed compensation method. It expanded the scope of application of predictive controller in nuclear power control. To verify the control performance of the controllers under various operating conditions, four typical operating conditions are selected, which are local control, global control, emergency operation and step operation. The simulation shows that the four controllers have good global load-following capability and it can also ensure the safety of nuclear reactor.Even facing the complicated situation which includes the temperature feedback and xenon poison feedback, the controllers are still capable of completing the load tracking task. It can not only overcome the reactivity which introduced by the fuel and coolant temperature change in a short period of time, but also overcome the reactivity introduced by the Xenon poison change in the large scale of time.
