As a significant part of the nuclear reactor system, the power control system is animportant means to maintain the reactor’s stability and bring the power under control at agiven level. During operation, the effective control of the reactor power is important to thesafety and efficiency of the nuclear reactor system. Therefore, the study on the control systemof nuclear power is very significant.The dynamic process of the nuclear reactor power is a complex time-varying systemcharacterized by strong non-linear, multi-parameter, strong coupling and jamming. Under thecondition of load following, when the nuclear reactor power has big changes, the regulatingperformance of the classical PID controllers such as closed loop asymptotic stability will bechallenged. Since T-S fuzzy model can approximate infinitely the non-linear system,combining with optimal control theory, we conduct a research about nuclear reactor powercontrol system.Based on the single group delayed neutron kinetics model and the T-S fuzzy model, anon-linear nuclear reactor power model is constructed. Combining the optimal control theoryand LMI technologies, a LQR optimal controller based on the T-S fuzzy model is designed torealize the load following control over the nuclear reactor power. And the stability of thenuclear reactor power closed-loop system is also validated by the Lyapunov stability theory.The simulation results show that the designed nuclear reactor power controller based on theT-S fuzzy model can effectively control the nuclear reactor power. Moreover, a TS optimalfilter based on the T-S fuzzy model is designed and applied to the nuclear reactor powerfeedback controllers.The simulation results indicate that the TS optimal filter can meet thedemands of the nuclear reactor power system.
