In recent years, more and more attention has been paid by the government and the people to the inland waterway transportation. The reason is that compared with the road and railway transportation,it has a large amount of traffic,at the same time, it consumes less fuel and has less pollution to the environment. Therefore, inland waterway transport is a kind of environ- mentally friendly transportation mode suitable for "low carbon economy". The Yangtze river basin is very suitable for the development of river transport. Container transport due to low cost, can also carry out multimodal transport with other modes of transport, the country actively encourage the development of the Yangtze river container shipping. Inland container transportation in China started late,the development level of inland shipping is lower than other developed countries, route network planning without the use of scientific methods and technology, route to port and route planning is not reasonable, the capacity of overlap is significant in theory and in-depth study of inland water container transportation optimization is scarce. Based on the analysis of the two aspects of practical operation and theory,the main purpose of this paper is to study the selection and planning of the hub port of inland container liner shipping network.Firstly, this paper introduces the idea and model of foreign classical network hub location, and then reviews the development of inland waterway shipping in China. Then in view of the existing situation of container transportation, from the channel status, port layout, development environment and the Yangtze River container transportation and other aspects of detailed and comprehensive on the Yangtze River container transport.The fourth chapter is the focus of this paper, mainly introduces the P-hub meeian location model for the Yangtze River shipping network hub port, the characteristic of the model is the number of the hub is pre-determined in which case the cost of the entire transport network is minimized. The P-hub median problem mainly adopts the idea of economies of scale that gathers the traffic to reduce transport unit transportation costs,so as to achieve the purpose of reducing the total transportation costs. In this paper,Microcity software is used to organize the data and the software is used to solve the 0-1 integer programming model. Finally, the model is applied to the collection of 20 container ports on the main trunk of the Yangtze River and the hub port is selected to minimize the total cost of the entire shipping network. The sensitivity and the number of hub ports with the lowest total cost are obtained, which verifies the feasibility and rationality of the model. The research of this paper can provide some reference for solving the problem of the hub location for inland river shipping. At the same time, the research of this paper can also be applied to the choice of port of call for shipping companies.
