In China,with the rapid development of economy,the construction of high-grade highways is developing at an unprecedented rate.At present,most of high-grade highways are asphalt concrete pavement structure in China.With the increasing of highways,the demand to the dosage and performance of asphalt concrete is more and more strict.So,it seems more important to improve the dosage and performance of asphalt concrete.On the other side,China has a wealth of stone stock and it is the largest country in the stone production all over the world.In the process of stone processing,there will be a large number of chips(particle size is 0.15mm to 4.75mm)and powder(particle size is less than 0.15mm).According to preliminary statistics,the chips and powder often account for 10%-20%of the total stone after crushing.These chips and powder are often discarded as waste.It not only wastes our resources but also pollutes the environment.If we can recycle these chips and powder,not only save resources and reduce the pollution of environment,but also can bring immeasurable economic benefits to engineering construction.Focusing on the above problems,we tried to use the waste stone dust as the stuffing of asphalt concrete.Then,we studied the mechanics and pavement performance of asphalt concrete and tested the practicability of the asphalt concrete.Main conclusions of this work are draw as follows:1.Using the waste stone dust as the stuffing of asphalt concrete will reduce the mechanics and pavement performance of asphalt concrete.With increasing the amount of waste stone dust,the performance of asphalt concrete will decrease.2.According to our analysis,there were regularities during the amount of waste stone dust and the charge of the performance of asphalt concrete.Firstly,when the percentage of waste stone dust was from 0%to 8%,the rates of the performance of asphalt concrete essentially unchanged.The results showed a good linear relationship.Secondly,when the percentage was 8%to 16%,the rates of the performance fluctuated in wide range.The results were instability.Lastly,with increasing the amount of waste stone dust,the performance dramatically reduced.Therefore,when we used the waste stone dust as the stuffing of asphalt concrete,we should control the percentage of the waste stone dust under 8%.3.We sued the waste stone dust partially replaced sand as the stuffing of asphalt concrete for the produce of asphalt concrete and tested the practicability of the asphalt concrete in the actual projects.All of the performances were qualified.Therefore,we advanced that it is feasible to use the waste stone dust as the stuffing of asphalt concrete.4.The productive technology and construction technique of the asphalt concrete with waste stone dust are no special.So,there is no need a particular facility and construction scheme.
