The Preliminary Study On The Methods Of Value Recurrence In The Adaptive Reuse Of Industrial Heritage

The adaptive reuse of industrial heritage in China has been going on for nearly 20 years since the earliest reconstruction and reuse of industrial buildings in Beijing and Shanghai in 1990 s.Exploring the value of industrial heritage has gradually been the core issue of conservation and reuses which includes two phases,value evaluation and value recurrence.In contrast to a great deal of research on value evaluation,there is a shortage of research on value recurrence.Besides,researches on the adaptive reuse of industrial heritage mainly focus on function and uses,planning and management,refurbishment and reconstruction rather than value recurrence.Therefore,studying the present status of value recurrence in the adaptive reuse of industrial heritage,analyzing its characteristics and causes are important and necessary.To begin with,the thesis makes the object of the study clear and makes a preliminary analysis on the 190 projects of adaptive reuse of industrial heritage nationwide.Then,the thesis chooses 30 cases to do key researches and make field research on some of them.Next,based on the comprehensive understanding of value of industrial heritage,the thesis elaborates the methods and characteristics of value recurrence of industrial heritage.Finally,according to the current problems,the thesis puts forward some suggestions.The thesis points out that industrial heritage have two aspects of values,heritage value and use value.Accordingly,the value recurrence relates to two aspects,the interpretation of heritage value and the translation of use value.The former achieved through the ways of presence or absence,while the latter in many different ways.The consequences indicates that the current adaptive reuse pay more attention on the translation of use value than the interpretation of heritage value.Projects of different uses,protection levels and participants have different effects.
