Population aging is a major social problem in the 21 st century and a major feature of human population development.China from the beginning of this century into the aging country,the elderly population,faster growth,not the first old and so on is the current population of China’s basic national conditions.With the aging of the population,to solve the problem of old-age housing is to become an important issue facing our people’s livelihood.In the 1970 s and 1990 s,China to solve the housing shortage of urban residents,built a large number of residential,the current construction of the house is still an important part of China’s housing system.These old houses,which have played a huge role,have become old,backward and high-energy old homes with the aging of the population.They can not meet the living needs of the residents,limit the quality of life and affect the appearance of the city With features.How to solve the old residential space quality and the use of the contradiction between the needs of the elderly population? Is a large-scale demolition of the old house to update,and the construction of a large number of nursing homes,or should take appropriate technology for a reasonable transformation of the old house? This is a major social problem we face.I believe that these houses are still within the safe use of life,in response to national sustainable development strategy,should take appropriate technology for the elderly transformation.This paper chooses the dormitory of Taiyuan Boiler Works in Taiyuan City of Shanxi Province as a research case.Through the field investigation,this paper analyzes the characteristics of the house in this period,and combines the design principles and basis of the existing residential retrofit.From the architectural environment,public facilities,Three aspects of the residential design for the transformation of the elderly,designed to solve the old residential space quality and the contradiction between the needs of the elderly population.It is also an important way to cope with the aging of our population,to create a harmonious and orderly social environment and to promote the sustainable development of the city.It is also an important way to solve the problem of the aging of our country.significance.
