The aim of this thesis is a thorough examination of the issues of universal design in the context of public space. The work is comparative and deals with the situation existing selected destinations in Europe, mainly in Poland and selected cities in China. First discussed was the definition of universal design, which is an issue very broadly defined. Then it was discussed about the public space with the exact examining and distinguishing the situation in Europe and in China. The public space has been analyzed in the concept of the general and with regard to the criteria of accessibility for all users. After discussing the differences and similarities of these spaces have been developed design guidelines, based on the principles of universal design and the Polish construction law. In the following part of the analysis they are subjected to users of universal design. Appears definition disability and are described in detail all of its types, are then described other groups of users. A group of users in Poland and in China were discussed and compared to, detailing the differences and similarities between these groups. In the last chapter, after many analysis and study of the topic, were proposed three design solutions that relate to the principles of universal design, accessibility for all and can function as modules installed alone or attached to existing projects.
