The Chinese Traditional Cultural Symbols In Xishu Gardens

Along with the development of globalization, entrance of western culture and impact of the multicultural world, urban construction has converged in China. A city should show its own characteristics and its unique symbols. Reading tradition and expressing regional culture have become an important part of current in urban construction.Chinese classical garden is the unity of natural beauty and the beauty of form of fusion, symbols of traditional Chinese culture is a large embodies the garden, with the poetic qualities. Xishu garden and Chinese classical gardens can be traced to the same origin and has the special landscape ideological and cultural connotation and study their cultural symbols, has important academic and application value.Through on-the-spot investigation and combined with XiShu landscape space and scene, this paper studied the traditional cultural symbols, including calligraphy, architecture, landscape, plants, philosophy, folk-custom and other elements which are prototypical and representative, and did a lot of work of analysis, classification, discussion, refinement and conclusion. By studying traditional cultural symbols, we had deeper understanding to XiShu landscape. We figured out the traditional symbols which have been used in XiShu landscape, studied the inheriting and utilization of these symbols and the development of the integration, and discussed its inheriting and utilization in today’s urban construction, especially in XiShu area. In Chinese traditional cultural symbols in Xishu garden forms as the breakthrough point, and learning reference experts and scholars on the symbol learning theories and concepts. The significance of traditional cultural symbol in contemporary landscape architecture design and the way of updating.By grasping the development requirements of the traditional cultural symbols in today’s society, this paper puts forward the important significance of the transformation of traditional cultural symbols and the design expression method in today’s landscape architecture. Summed up the various conflicts between Chinese traditional culture and modernization, national spirit and modern society, in West Sichuan area landscape expression analysis, and specific to the Xishu area of garden design case. Combined with Chinese traditional cultural symbols in the use of today’s landscape analysis of the future development trend of Chinese landscape and vision, let Chinese contemporary landscape oriental flavor more thick and deep, and hope enough to provide a useful reference for China’s contemporary landscape design.
