Research Of AIS Transmitter Performance Test System

AIS has played an important role in the field of global maritime safety since it was promoted and implemented.With the increasing popularization and extensive application of AIS,several problems also gradually appeared.For example,the navigation safety of Class A ships in certain seas are seriously affected by the high-power Class B AIS equipment.Another example is that the excessive emission frequency deviation of AIS leads to the adjacent channel interference and reduces the recognition rate of ships.These issues are mostly caused by AIS terminal equipment which does not meet the performance standards.The performance of AIS terminal equipment impacts the stability of the AIS directly.There is a lack of products used for systematic performance testing of AIS terminal equipment both at home and abroad so far.Therefore,in this paper,AIS transmitter performance test system is studied and implemented.The test system is able to obviously improve the efficiency and precision for AIS transmitter performance testing,and it is of great significance for current AIS marketization of equipment testing and maintaining.In this paper,the testing principles of AIS transmitter performance are studied based on the structural composition and operational principle of RF transmitter,and the testing scheme of AIS transmitter performance is designed and established on the basis of the current AIS terminal equipment test standards,including IEC 62320-2,IEC 61993 and IEC62287-1,etc.Moreover,an AIS transmitter performance test system is designed and implemented in this paper.This test system adopts the modularized design idea,aims at performance parameters of AIS transmitter,and is developed from two aspects:hardware platform and system software.Hardware platform includes the test host,measuring instruments and AIS transmitter equipment under test.That the test host sends testing control commands to AIS transmitter through serial port,makes the transmitter send test signals automatically.The test host also controls the measuring instruments remotely by LAN.The system software is based on Qt development platform in Windows system,and the software realizes the automatic testing of AIS transmitter performance by using VISA library sending SCPI commands.Each performance of AIS transmitter in our laboratory has been comprehensively tested by this self-developed AIS transmitter performance test system,and the analysis and evaluation of the testing result are given.The results show that this test system is superior to traditional testing methods in areas of testing efficiency,measurement accuracy,reliability and comprehensiveness of testing results.Additionally,this test system has high expansibility,which is easier to expand and develop other service test functions based on AIS performance test.
