In recent years, many hub airports are proceeding airfield and terminal renovation and expansion, some even reconstructing the whole airport. However, as the runway and terminal capacity grows, an unmatched landside transfer system has become a key factor that restricts the airport development, so it has to keep up with the pace of airport development. Therefore, how to reasonably plan the landside traffic system has significant meaning for airport future development, especially with the rise of domestic railway industry.Take the landside transfer system of hub airport as the research object, with a method that combines optimization and simulation, studied the transfer system optimization from four aspects which are passenger transfer amount, facility size, system layout and walkways setting. By using several forecasting methods, the scales of various landside traffic facilities of airport are obtained. In order to determine the optimization layout of traffic facilities, take average passenger transfer cost as the target of optimization model, thus on the basis of this layout, propose few pedestrian access schemes. Moreover, combined with the actual situation on the airport, using AnyLogic software to simulate those proposed schemes and comprehensively elect the optimal solution. Take Tianjin Binhai International Airport as example, combined with the development trend of this airport, conduct a comprehensive analysis of the airport transfer systems and pedestrian behavioral characteristics, at last, obtained a suitable transfer system design scheme. The optimization research process of landside transfer system that study here, hopefully has a certain reference value for future research of airport landside transfer system.
