The quality of cement stabilized macadamdirectlyaffects theconstruction quality and life of road-base inhighways, airports and other constructions. The issue of the cement stabilized macadam base’s poor durability and crack has existed for many years in China.One of the main reasons is the uneven of the stirred stabilized soil.To solve this problem, this paper advances by using thevibratory mixing techniques on cement stabilized macadamto stimulate cement stabilized macadam mixture’s potential and to improve the durability and crack resistance of the pavement base. The feasibility ofvibratory mixing techniquesadopted on the cement stabilized macadam have been proved by usingtheoretical analysis and experimental study which focus on theoretical analysis of the vibratory mixing techniques,laboratory experimental research and engineering applications.In this paper, in order to simulate and research the interaction process between the mechanism of continuous mixing machine and the medium, themixing apparatus’ s physical model and diffusion equation have been combined by the us, then we obtain the mathematical expression of the changes of mixture’s uniformity, whichrevealsthevariation law of the mixture’s uniformityand mixing time, mixing parameter and mixing speed coefficient. Also it provides a theoretical basis for the combination of vibration and forced mixing by using vibration mixing techniques to strengthen the diffusion motion.The dual-vibration mechanism designed in lab whichnot only solve the contradiction between tester’s durability and its vibration parameters of the tester’srequirement, but also can mixing stabilize soil and cement concretein accord with national standards. However,the convective motionis not strong enough during the mixing process without using the twin shaft continuous vibratory mixing device whichcombines forced mixingwith vibratory mixing.Field operation and tests show that the cement stabilized macadam from the vibration mixing techniquescan make the water, cement group and graygroup of thecombined aggregate concrete broken, and make them uniformly distributed in the mix. It also shows that the mixed stabilized soil wrapped aggregate has the following advantages:stable quality, durability improved, saving cement, additional benefits for the users, without segregationduring transportationand paving, good construction performance, the mixture is easy to take core, compactness and significantly reduce road-base’s cracks.Studies have shown that vibratory mixing techniquesstrengthen the process, reduce the amount of cement, improve the uniformity and the micro-structure of cement stabilized macadam, make the potential of the material itselfbe played. This technology not only can improve the strength and durability of thecement stabilized macadam base, but also without segregationin the transportation or paving process and significantly reducing the crack phenomenon.Meanwhile, lower cost, convenient to use, ease to construction, saving cement, no negative effect on the material and accord with the requirements of a low-carbon economy. So vibratory mixing techniques is a new technology toincrease durability and crack resistance of the roadbase.
