The semi-rigid base of cement stabilized macadam is widely used in road construction. But in order to ensure the strength, the semi-rigid base is easy to cause cracks defect. In order to improve the strength and crack resistance of cement stabilized macadam, this paper come up with the vibratory mixing technology. Vibratory mixing technology is a kind of mechanical reinforcement technology that can significantly improve the quality and efficiency of agitation of building materials, but the current study of vibratory mixing technology has focused on ordinary concrete, there is barely any study on the effects on cement stabilized macadam. So, this paper study on the feasibility of vibratory mixing technology to improve the performance of cement stabilized macadam. First, this paper use theoretical analysis method to research on the mechanisms of action of cement stabilized macadam by vibratory mixing technology, and the mechanisms of improving the strength and crack resistance of cement stabilized macadam by vibratory mixing technology. Second, in the first round experiment, determine the most suitable vibration parameters and mixing parameters for cement stabilized macadam. Last, design the second round experiment for dense-suspended type and dense skeleton type. Compare the strength, crack resistance and microstructure of samples made by normal mixing and vibratory mixing of 30 Hz and 40 Hz.And the samples’ cement content is 3.5%,4% and 4.5%.The test results show that vibratory mixing can improving the performance of cement stabilized macadam: at the same cement content, for dense-suspended type, vibratory mixing can improving strength over to 18%; for dense skeleton type, vibratory mixing can improving strength over to 8.5%. For both types, vibratory mixing can reduce the dry shrinkage strain and average dry shrinkage index obviously. That is to say, vibratory mixing can improve the crack resistance of cement stabilized macadam. By the way, when meet the strength standard, vibratory mixing can save 11% cement, and have good economic results.
