Since 2004, the central key figures released thirteen "NO.1" s document successively which indicates the government focus a lot attention on rural planning and rural development. The studies on rural planning are fewer than that on urban planning, and rural development is lack of theoretical guidance. So studies on rural planning are very important under such policy background and academic background. What'more, rural development model of the central and western regions is different from that of easten regions, and rural residential areas of the central and western regions are rich in natural resources but their ecological environment is fragile. So how to coordinate environmental protection and space development is becoming an important study of rural planning. This article is a study of the relationship between rural spatial development and natural ecological environment in the central regions based on ecological perspective and take the rural residential areas of Changyang as the case study. This article purposed spatial organization patterns of rural residential areas in mountain area. The route of the thesis is " feature description-- problem discovery-- spatial analysis-- method construction ". The method of this research is " qualitative and quantitative analysis". The contents and structure of this paper is "review of previous studies--characteristics and problems-- factors of space layout-- layout optimization methods". The conclusion of this article is, firstly, ecological-perspective-based study for spatial layout optimization of rural residential area in mountain area is feasible and necessary, secondly, this study has a unique advantage, thirdly, this article purposed a spatial organization pattern of rural residential areas in mountain area.
