Now a lot of high-tech electronic products have sprung up in our life with the economic development and technology progress increasingly. However, the blind in our society cannot share convenience and help from our society with the progress of the science and technology. Nowadays, there are a lot of guide device appeared on the market. Most of the guide device is not very convenient and helpful for the blind. Although the guide rod has been an essential tool for blind people to walk, but the traditional guide rod can’t demand for their requirement. We need a guide rod which is multi-function and convenient for the blind. We can design many functions in the guide rod to provide good service for the blind. This paper try to design a ultrasonic guide rod which have broadcasting, voice prompt, seeking, positioning, and ultrasonic obstacle avoidance guide rod conveniently,.Designing a ultrasonic guide rod system is based on the development of STC15 single-chip. The FM radio function can provide FM radio services to help the blind access to outside information and to improve the entertainment. The voice timekeeping function can help the blind to get accurate time. Adjustment time can make the blind to adjust their time by Braille keys. The system has wireless searching guide rod function when it is not beside the blind, the blind press the button to control the voice of rod. The system also has a GPS receiver which can help the blind positioning. The blind can make sure whether they have reached the destination. The function of the ultrasonic obstacle avoidance helps blind to avoid walking in front of the obstacle. The blind is unable to interact with the machine equipment through the visual. By pressing the Braille keys and voice prompt help the blind to control the guide rod. The system of the ultrasonic guide rod is practical bringing the help to the life for the blind.Keil C51 is used for the development of single-chip microcomputer in the paper, which can accelerate the development of speed and make debugging conveniently. In this paper, the designing of the various functional modules use many integrated chip to reduce the system hardware. This ultrasonic guide rod is similar to the traditional guide rod. This paper completes the entirety designing and the function modules.
