Because of the fast development of business and explosion of urban population, the demand of people about dwelling environment became more and more higher. The living environment welcomes the coming era of landscaping. Citizens are increasingly focusing on the inhabitable value of gardens when they choose their living way and environment. In China, Waterscape is seemed as the most important part of the landscape factors. It can be a punch line and also can be throughout the entire residential area of the artery, because of the water for the Chinese is the symbol of life that is the embodiment of the vitality, and even it is a symbol of wealth. Therefore "have water" has become the fashion characteristics of the high quality of community environment.Looking upon the fully equipped and sound residential area, there is no one has been created without the Waterscape. Each dwelling community at least has a big waterscape, and even more each district has a waterscape. Although these waterscapes could be vivid and spectacular with bright-clear water, however you will find that these waterscapes such as stopped flowing water, unsprayed fountain and unclearly black water with terrible smell when properties have been already launched and used. The existed problems will not only impact the effects and functions of waterscapes, and also become the main reason that will decrease quality of Landscapes. Therefore, this research will focus on how to rationally plan designs and later maintenance of waterscape in residential area, which will present values of landscape and ecology rather than disaster of sales.This paper will review historic development of residential waterscapes through huge numbers of deeply researching insight into information and data, and also evaluate and declare context, function,trait and type of waterscapes in contemporary urban dwelling areas. Questionnaires and field trips in many property communities in Chongqing have been designed and conducted between both property developers and customers to analyze potential problems and related reasons of residential waterscapes. Observation of waterscape in residential area, analyzes the existing problems of residential waterscape design, put forward the residential waterscape design strategies to solve the problems.Particularly included the following five points:Part one is introduction of the whole essay. It majorly introduces research background, research context, research aims and purpose, introduces the present situation of the research of water scene in and the current situation of the research on the water scene in Chongqing.Part two is divided into historic development of overseas residential waterscapes, and partly stating of both domestic and abroad countries.Part three is for investigation, to Chongqing each are big projects, choose a mature community environment, the occupancy rate high living as the research object, the object of study for detailed analysis and research, observation of waterscape phenomenon: a pool of anhydrous, water no king, King has insurance, smelly water landscape destroyed. According to these phenomena, analysis of waterscape design problems: security risks, Waterscape, design an accounting period maintenance costs, ecological technology to make full use of, tend to imitate.Part four based on the summary of the preceding problems, put forward corresponding design strategy to the Waterscape in residential area: variable waterscape hard fence for soft fence; waterscape ornamental variable experiential based, increase the hydrophilic landscape; adjust measures to local conditions; the maintenance cost in the later period considered as design elements, new technology and new technology use. The design strategy of these designs can provide reference for the design of residential area.Part five is separated as research of field trip. It mainly focused on different property estates which are with sound facilities and high occupancy rate in Chongqing as survey objects. It aims to research and evaluate these research objects as case study, in order to conclude main problems of residential waterscapes, for instance pools without water, water without landscapes, terrible smell of water, etc.Part six pronounces sustainably designing strategy depends on the above-concluded problems and analyzed reasons. It mainly evaluated from three aspects, namely designing angle, water quality improvement, and demand of customers.Part seven is the conclusion, which summarizes the contents of this paper.
