Flow control valves are widely used in flow devices(flow meter device,e.g.),but there existed some disadvantages, such as poor linearity, lack of repeatability, and so on.In this paper,a rotary flat flow valve with linear characteristics is proposed, which can achieve the linear regulator flow from 0% to 90%.This valve is driven by a stepping motor, which can quickly adjust to any opening degree of the valve. With good repeatability,it can overcome the above disadvantages on the whole. So it has a good application background. The structure and working principle of the valve are introduced. Then, the function of the flat curve is deduced within Matlab.A computational fluid dynamics method is employed to simulate the internal fluid field of the valve at different opening degree According to the analysis of the changing relationship between flow area and the opening degree of the valve, and the results show that the linear correlation coefficient reaches 0.9985.The overall design of a rotary flat flow valve with linear characteristics is proposed in this paper. The design of hardware and mechanical units, the control system with PLC and the monitoring the data processing system based on LabVIEW software platform are completed. The functions of human-computer interaction and automatic verification are realized.A series of gas leakage, valve's flow characteristic and repeatability experiments have been carried out.The leakage testing show that this valves and the experimental platform are good. The results show that: this valve has a good linear flow characteristics, and the correlation coefficient reaches 0.99743.Repeatability of the valve reaches 0.26%.
