A Preliminary Study On The Planning And Design Of American Mixed Aging Community

In recent years, with the acceleration of the aging population and the weakening of traditional family pension services. Pension problem is increasingly prominent, grim, at the same time; the traditional home care model is declining. The best combination of family pension and institutional pension is in the community; the community endowment service will become one of the main modes of the future pension services, and become a new choice to solve the problem of pension.From January to April 2015, the author was lucky to take part in a joint studio between Nanjing Tech University and The University of Kansas, this joint studio is about the design for an inter-generational community. We have done some research on the local aging community and have an understanding of American mixed aging community. The design method and experience of aging community in the USA is worthy of our study and use for reference.This paper takes American mixed aging community as the object of study and summarizing the development of the mode of the American aging community as basic. The paper summed up the basic principles and methods of the design through literature review, case analysis, comparative analysis and on-the-spot investigation method. Through the joint studio project between the University of Kansa and Nanjing Tech University, the paper discusses the form structure of American mixed aging community from design principle, design concept, design method and put forward some suggestions. This paper puts forward the deficiency and improvement suggestions.The paper falls into five chapters with about 80500 Chinese characters and 189 illustrations (including 177 figures and 12 tables). The first chapter describes the subject of research background, purpose and meaning, content and methods and related research, defines key concepts and illustrates the research framework paper; Chapter ? expatiates the current situation of population aging, pension policy and the development of the aging community of the United States then selected some representative cases of aging community architecture in the United States and then carried out concrete analysis; Chapter III puts forward the principles and methods of the aging community planning and architectural design; In the forth chapter, the author expatiates the combined teaching project and analyzed the results of the project; The fifth chapter concludes the whole paper, and presents several innovations and finally the further study is prospected.
