Study On The Architectural Design Of Community Health Centers For The Aged Society

In the coming decades, the cities in China will be faced with severe aging.According to our national condition, home-based care will be the major pension modethat most aged peo-ple decide to choose, which is in high demand for social medicalservice. Based on the above situation, not only professional medical institutions forthe old but also large number of basic medical institutions, among which communityhealth service centers seem to be a effective way in response to demand of healthservice for the elderly because of their speciality and co-nstancy carrying out medicalservice for home-based care. Since the health care reform, the national network ofcommunity health service has been preliminarily established in the cities; meanwhile,it’s still immature in content, forms and the construction of medical spaces, whichcontributes to its incapability coping with aging. Based on the above background, thisthesis is due to put forward architectural design strategies for community health serv-ice centers con-fronted with the aging problem.This thesis gives a detailed interpretation of influencing factors for the design ofcommu-nity health service centers after relative research abroad is fullycomprehended, which, inclu-des relevant policy and operation mechanism, standardsand reference gallery and the chara-cteristic of the elderly. Afterwards, investigationand research is done with the city of Chong-qing as a sample: firstly, general situationof the community health service construction in Ch-ongqing is summarized throughdata collected; secondly, the construction situation of buildi-ngs is recorded, for whichseveral community health service centers in the city are visited, in-cluding locationfeature, function deployment, functional layout and medical environment; at last, thedata of questionnaire was analyzed so that clear comprehension can be got about useand cognition of community health service centers besides desire for built environment,cont-ent and forms of its service.Taking account of the three surveys above, this thesis pointed out three defects ofcom-munity health service centers in Chongqing facing aging problems on thearchitectural side:①planning and siting is lack of vision and macro planning;②thefunction configuration and transportation streaming is not suitable for the elderly;③Internal environment is not suitable for the elderly. In order to improve the problemsmentioned above, this thesis puts forward six strategies which are especially designed for the elderly:①scientific planning and site sele-ction;②convenience in medicalprocedure;③suitability for configuration of senile me-dical space;④adaptability ofbuilding space;⑤safetyofmedical space;⑥the family envir-onment for medical care.
