Investigation And Research Into Color Dynamic Harmony In Facade Reconstruction Of Street Architecture

Facade color transformation of street architecture is an essential part in urban district reconstruction in China.With rapid expansion of city sizes and burgeoning development of urban economy,a series of issues in terms of space,structure,environment,visualization,excessive urban development,have emerged in the process of urban district(re)construction in many cities.Hence,facade color transformation in urban streets has become a research focus in current urban district reconstruction.This problem-oriented research explores color dynamic harmony models for street architecture,underpinned by theories and methods of chromatics,visual psychology,urban design,urban planning and architectural design.Through analyzing recent literature regarding urban color design practices,it has been identified that a traditional static model is still widely employed for planning architecture structure reconstruction in urban streets.Therefore,the current study proposes conception of constructing a dynamic harmony model for transforming street architecture facade color to fill the gap of lacking literature concerning dynamic color design.This research takes Heping Road in Xuzhou City as a case for in-depth investigation,which can be considered as a typical example among principle streets in widespread small and medium cities in China.Street architecture distributed on Heping Road are systematically categorized on the basis of visual motion characteristics,and spatial and visual color theory.The research analyzes causes of ways that architecture color presents on Heping Road and its effects,which is displayed by using Munsell diagram.Based on data gained from survey,it constructs a color dynamic harmony model for principle buildings along the road.Through dynamic visual perception experiment and analysis of the constructed model,it points out problems currently implied in the dynamic harmony model for color transformation on Heping Road and proposes solutions accordingly.Given the practical investigation and research into effects of color dynamic harmony on Heping Road,it further suggests planning and designing methods using the model of color dynamic harmony for fa?ade color transformation of street architecture in other small and medium cities in China.Aiming to reveal influential factors and the coordinative role of color dynamic harmony model in architecture fa?ade color transformation,the current research can be helpful to provide insights and instructions for future practical research into improvement of architecture color reconstruction.It may also lend support to enrich color dynamic theory and extend its use in a broader field.
