In modern construction method industrialized building systems (IBS) is very important and effective way of constructing buildings. In the 1990's many researchers have revealed the importance of IBS, such as reduction in construction time, construction cost, an environmental pollutant and construction materials. It is known that industrialized building system (IBS) is not a new concept of construction method, but the development of innovation and new materials, construction machinery and technology has made it more of a concept of modernization and industrialization. As a result, IBS is not only regarded as a technique or method but a philosophy. The industrialized building system has been identified as one of the solutions to solve some of the existing problems and difficulties in the construction in innovative ways. The objective of this study is to compare and contrast the technical differences in implementing IBS between the developed and the developing nations. UK and China have been selected to represent the two categories respectively. Data required for the study was collected by distributing questionnaires to the companies in both countries. The questionnaires include five major topics, which are Economic value, Ecological performance, Social equity and culture, Technical quality, and Implementation and enforcement. Findings suggest that there is a difference in IBS implementation between UK and China. The result demonstrates their differences in terms of Economic value, Ecological performance and social equity and culture. Furthermore, their similarity is shown in regards to Technical quality, implementation, and enforcement. The paper present IBS as an alternative approach China should follow to meet the construction demands of its growing population by learning from the experience of other developed countries.
