Research On Residential Building Energy Consumption Of China’s Urban Area And Comparison With Developed Countries

The research goal of this thesis is to systematically analyze the status quo,characteristic and main influencing factor of China’s urban residential building energyconsumption (exclude centralized heating in Northern China). Meanwhile to drawlessons from experiences and lessons by comparison with developed countries. Theconclusion of this thesis is to find the direction of a sustainable way to develop China’surban residential building and point out the appropriate route for energy conservation ofresidential building in urban China.Aiming at this goal, energy consumption and characteristic of building andhouseholds of four countries include China, USA, Japan and Italy were collected in infact from macro aspect, middle aspect, and micro aspect. Methods used are literaturereview, macroscopic calculation model, questionnaire investigation and interview inwide range, on site measurement and case study of households, data share frominternational cooperation.Based on large numbers of real data, this thesis complete a systematic effort toarrange, analyze and examine the stock of China’s urban residential building, status quoof residential building energy consumption and characteristic of each end use part. Aftera clear understanding of China, a cross culture comparison of China, USA, Japan andItaly was done do find difference on energy consumption of household, large amount ofsurveyed and measured data were used to explain the difference. The basic reason ofthis difference was different life style, usage pattern and demand of indoor service level.The historical increasing trend of household energy consumption and its reason wereused to support this conclusion.With the rapid development of social and economic and advancement ofurbanization of China, how to achieve sustainable development of China’s urbanresidential building, realized well off life quality become a big challenge for Chinaunder the dual pressures of resources crisis and environmental pollution. As consumingfield, building energy will keep dramatically increasing with the unlimited improving ofindoor service level. Therefore we should get clear understand of China’s currentlifestyle and usage pattern, develop policy and technical system comply with it ratherthan follow standard and life style of developed countries. Under the total amount control target of China energy consumption for society and building area, only by thistechnological innovation on the premise of maintaining current green life style, couldChina realize rising of people’s living standard and promote a conservation culture.
