Study On Design Of China Urban Youth Hostel

Originating in Europe in the 19th century, youth hostel shows a strong tendency of diversification, with a development of 100 years. Since introduced into China in 1998, youth hostel grew out of nothing, while developed rapidly among the whole country with the development of tourism. Youth hostel has been developing for decades, who is in the stage of rapid expansion nowadays. Although we have accumulated a wealth of practical experience, the relevant domestic researches on the design of youth hostel are limited. The work aimed at offering rewarding reference and design methods on the rebuilding and constriction of youth hostels by my research.Through the spot investigation of a certain amount of domestic youth hostels, based on the data collection, data statistics, literature research and analysis on a large amount of cases, the work started with the basic concept of youth hostel, the development history and the characteristics of its type, clarified the essence of the research object and drew a research scope. In addition, the design method of youth hostel was discussed from the aspects of the location, size, ratio of house type, dimension control, the design methods.Firstly, from the perspective of the early stage of the building design, this work studied the appropriate locations, size control and function of the urban youth hostels in China through data analysis, puting forward the location selection"conditions", scale control "principles" and basic elements of function composing for youth hostels. Secondly, combining with actual cases, the work studied the design methods of public space, accommodation space and logistics space respectively, especially, focusing on the characteristics of youth hostel space, communication space, multiple accommodation space and self-help space.In conclusion, through the system research of design methods of China's urban youth hostel, the work summarized the design strategies of youth hostel:the composite interaction of public space design strategy, intensive economic accommodation space design strategy and collaborative lean logistics space design strategy.
