Water Sensitive Urban Design

This thesis aims at exploring the theories of water sensitive urban design(WSUD)and its application,by means of elaborating landscape design for the marine ecological civilization demonstration zone of the YILUO River in Luoyang.It discusses the feasibility of implementation of WSUD in the Luoyang area,which enables to establish new marine ecological civilization demonstration zones incorporating ecology,tourism,and culture to the traditional historical heritage of Luoyang.The beginning of the thesis is dedicated to the introduction of the notion of WSUD,and its features.This part of the thesis profoundly explores the emergence of WSUD,as well as its design principles,by analyzing the various threats of urban development to the marine ecosystem.Furthermore,concrete landscape design criteria on WSUD are introduced,followed by the discussion of its real-life practice.The next section focuses on my design topic--------landscape design of the marine ecological civilization demonstration area of northeast area zone of the YILUO River.In this section,I will analyze the background of the design and give an overview.In the end,I will interpret the plan of the design down to the very last detail,with respect to factors like the city's historical heritage,geographical features,and the marine ecological status of the area.
