The design of urban pavement landscape has long history which can be found record on the history of Chinese classical gardens. Art of Garden-Building, written by Ji Cheng in Ming Dynasty, has systematically discussed garden pavement in detail. Tooru Miyakoda, Japanese landscape designer, once said "In a city, ground can be the special symbol of the national culture." The pavement landscape is so important that it can influence the image of a city. Since reform and opening up, some important documents, issued by the State Council, have detailed required that pavement landscape is the part of urban landscape. City is the carrier of people’s life and production, so a better city not only should have good urban landscape but also should mould the spiritual and cultural atmosphere of the landscape. Therefore, pavement culture will inevitably be the important part of urban culture.As the important parts of urban, coastal cities are easier to reflect the particularity of culture. Since the 1990s, because of the advantages of geographic location, coastal areas more and more get the attention of people. Developing coastal areas not only meet the people’s needs but also play an important role on coastal cities landscape construction. Pavement landscape is an important component of the coastal landscape, not only with the use of functions of contacting the space group, bearing roads system and organizing planning traffic, but also can meet the needs of the people deep, to create elegant and comfortable environment for people, create a suitable space communication, to enrich the coastal landscape is particularly unique.Qingdao is an important coastal city in our country and is one of the five largest foreign trade ports, also is a national historical and cultural city and tourist resort. In recent years, the coastal landscape construction of Qingdao has got more and more attention and alone the coastal roads a large area of open landscape space will gradually extend. The construction of landscape pavement is the important part of showing the features of coastal cities and has an significance to the development of Qingdao. Taking Qingdao as the example, the article studies the coastal landscape pavement design. The main topic of the Qingdao coastal landscape belt such as square, green areas for recreation, coastal park, coastal commercial street, near the sea and offshore islands of pavement landscape construction, construction technology and functional characteristics and other aspects of research, analysis of its advantages and existing problems, provides an effective method for pavement design for the construction of coastal landscape.
