China has a long and beautiful coastline, and due to regional differences, each coastal area has its own unique characteristics. As a window to showcase different regional features, coastal parks are not only carriers of cultural characteristics and vibrant images in coastal areas, but also the central area for local residents and tourists to entertain, relax, and communicate, while also playing an important role in maintaining the sustainability of the ecology. On the other hand,as a carrier of marine culture, coastal parks are also a medium for reversing the over-artificialization of modern parks and seeking coexistence with nature. With the development of the economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, the demand for coastal tourism by the public is increasing day by day, leading to the rapid growth of urban construction in coastal areas. The influx of large numbers of tourists and the slow pace of ecological restoration not only affect the normal leisure activities of local people, but also cause various problems in ecological environment, historical culture and other aspects, which have different degrees of negative impact on the original environment of coastal areas.Due to the fact that the construction of coastal parks in most cities in China is not matched with urban spatial planning, there is homogenization in landscape design, and the regional characteristics are weak, resulting in the gradual decline of cultural characteristics of coastal parks. How to obtain sufficient cultural nourishment closely related to the ocean on the basis of reflecting distinctive design features has become an urgent problem to be solved for coastal parks. This article first systematically expounds the current research status of coastal parks at home and abroad, explains the concept, characteristics, and classification of marine culture, the concept, characteristics, and natural elements of coastal parks,as well as the concepts and theoretical basis of landscape culture, regionalism, and semiotics.By analyzing four classic cases of coastal parks at home and abroad: Luanda Bay Coastal Park,Louisville Coastal Park in the United States,Qingdao Blue Valley Coastal Park, and Shenzhen Hongshulin Coastal Park, the article explores the characteristics of the cases and the design experience that can be learned from them, summarizes the principles and application carriers of coastal park landscape design, and proposes design ideas that fully recycle native resources, deeply explore urban marine culture, and create continuous waterfront spaces.Secondly, through analysis of the geographical environment, human history, and ocean culture of the city where the site is located,Qingdao,a summary of the basic profile of the city was made.In-depth on-site investigations and questionnaire analyses were conducted on the site, and the site characteristics and problems in terms of ecology, artificiality, and historical culture during the development process of Qingdao Jinshatan Park were identified.Based on this, the design theme of Qingdao Jinshatan Park was determined to be centered around "ocean culture. Finally, based on the above research and in compliance with design rules and regulations,a comprehensive renovation and planning design was carried out for Qingdao Jinshatan Park. The planning design includes a "core, four zones, and multiple points" landscape structure, and the site is divided into five major functional areas: core plaza, cultural display, children’s activities, festival celebrations, and tourist experiences. The main landscape nodes within these five functional areas are described in detail, and special design analyses are conducted for the site’s verticality, road routes, plantings, night lighting, landscape features and facilities, paving, and sightlines, fully exploring the unique characteristics of this site.
