The historical city of China is constrained by the traditional structure to be updated, facing the problem of material aging and functional decline. At the same time it has the highest building density, population density, excellent geographical location, and the growing popularity of showing a strong vitality. For maximum business interests, city economic efficiency priority and center location optimization and the role of economic factors, the historical city attracted a large commercial and modern service industry to enter. However, the historical city protection system in our country at present is not perfect yet. When the history of the city in the face of high strength commercial development needs, cultural appeal of historical and cultural cities tend to be damaged by the short-term behavior of economic interests.Under this background, this paper based on theory of space syntax, application method of axial map. Through the digital quantization and regression analysis for the space form of the historical urban evolution rule, this paper tries to find the relationship of space form and urban vitality, and attempts to provide the means of analysis and research foundation for further research. with the characterization, analysis and comparison of the evolution of Beijing and Tianjin historical districts in three different periods of spatial form and urban vitality, the author tries to explain the mechanism of spatial form of the historical city of influence on urban vitality. Rich knowledge and understanding of historical urban area which is is the birthplace of the city, and promote to update and protection of these valuable historical and cultural relics.
