With the development of China society, the electric power demand is increasing year by year. As the key component connecting the power system and consumers, the distribution grid has a direct influence on the reliability and quality of power supply. In the analysis of distribution grids, the power flow calculation plays a vital role that provides basis for the reconfiguration, planning and load forecasting in the operation of distribution grid. With the rapid development of cloud computing technology, more and more researchers begin to combine cloud computing technology and power system analysis. In this paper, the cloud computing technology is adopted in the power flow calculation of distribution network. The main work of this paper is as follows:This paper introduces the principle and the present development situation of cloud computing technology, and its unique characteristics and advantages, explores the difference and contact between cloud computing and other computing mode. This paper expounds the distribution network heterogeneous information model fusion, builds a virtual model center based on the research of distribution network platform, develops distribution network cloud-platform.This paper proposes an improved distribution system forward-backward sweep algorithm based-on cloud computing. The distribution network topology structure was analyzed, and the network was divided into I+R subnets in view of the concept of cloud computing, according to a principle of relatively balanced load and mini mum loss of communication among computing nodes. In the process of forward-backward sweep, the subnets send and receive updated current and voltage through the contact line to interact with the other subnets.This paper develops the improved distribution system forward-backward sweep algorithm based-on a platform of cloud computing using C++ language and MPI. The 33-node and 292-node example analysis results indicate that the proposed algorithm can improve computation efficiency to a certain extent with the aid of good convergent performance of the forward-backward sweep algorithm for distribution network, and thus verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
