Research On The Renewal Strategies Of Development Suiting For Aging In The Public Space Of The Old Settlements Of Suzhou

With the development of China's economic and the continued changes of the population,the aging population in China is becoming increasingly prominent.Suzhou has entered the aging society since 1982,which has higher degree of aging in China,it is known as the pension issue has become even more severe.The old settlements in the city are the concentrated areas where the aged lives,the elderly population is bound to be in a dramatic growth in a given period,but the living environment of the elderly has not been giant enough attention,and all aspects of environmental conditions and facilities are difficult to meet current and future needs of the elderly.The research object of this paper is the old settlements of Suzhou which were constructed from 1970 s to 1990 s.Through the research and analysis of the theoretical and practical of residential public space renovation for aging suitable home and abroad,it is found that domestic and foreign research focused on older single-family homes,site planning settlements,pension model and renovation of old settlements,etc.Foreign Community pension model is relatively mature,and can be used for reference.On the basis of reading a large number of literatures,this paper chose “aging suitable","public space" as the starting point,which is more microscopic and easier to implement in the theory of residential public space renovation,in order to actively respond to the aging of the old settlement upgrading and give specific recommendations which can be implemented.Based on the detailed analysis of the basic characteristics and needs of the elderly,as well as their outdoor activity types and characteristics of outdoor activities,it can be summed up the characteristics of suitable public space for the elderly in the old settlements and updated principles of proper aging.Through preliminary studies on the overview of the old settlements and transformation of the status quo in Suzhou,four typical old village has been selected to conduct field research and information gathering,and finally renovation policy of the old settlements renovation in Suzhou are proposed for activity space,green landscape and infrastructure.This paper aims to study the strategy of transformation for the old settlements public space suitable for aging suitable,It will not only play the role of targeted and practical guidance for the renovation of the old village of Suzhou,but also has a positive effect perfect on the general renewal of public space in old village.
