With the rapid development of highway in China,the problem of traffic safety is also becoming more and more serious.In order to meet the people's travel demand to safety,smooth,efficient and comfortable,need to improve traffic safety facilities,minimize the accident rate and reduce the severity of the accident,make full use of the traffic safety facilities of modern highway transportation service function.This paper analyzes the present situation which is not compatible of the traffic safety facilities and the actual traffic conditions in a northwest province.From the point of view of the standard design and the "people-vehicle-road" system,points out the existence of guardrail,traffic signs,markings and other traffic safety problems.In the meanwhile,combined with the province's natural environment and traffic characteristics,aiming at the existing problems of traffic safety facilities,the corresponding optimization measures are put forward,to improve the ability of anti-collision guardrail,reasonably set up the transition section of the fence and handle the end of the fence,to improve the anti-dazzle facilities,sight induced facilities,anti-collision facilities and isolated gate settings and so on.By consulting a large amount of information and combining with my own work experience,taking a highway in the province as an example of engineering test,sums up the test method for the quality of the highway traffic safety facilities in the province,and summarizes the measured item which is error prone in the construction quality detection of traffic safety facilities.At the same time,the highway traffic safety facilities of the province were summarized and discussed.
