The tourism industry in China has expedited along with the prosperity and the rapid development of economy.China is a great country with long history,vast territory,and abundant resources.Abundant resources and traditional culture have appeared to be major reasons attracting thousands of foreign tourists.Most of the tourists would be pleased to purchase souvenirs while they enjoying their sightseeing.In recent years,even though more and more people go abroad for tourism,inland travel still accounts for more than 80% of the total tourism consumption across the whole country.Therefore,the potential development of the souvenir market will not be expectable.As a northeast-characteristic city at the edge of Changbai mountain in Jilin province,Changchun has attracted an extensive popularity both inland and outland due to its special view,abundant resources,unsophisticated customs and ethnic culture.However,defects such as brands shortage,unremarkable characteristics,limited varieties et al.have been associated with the decrease in sales of souvenirs.The design of tourism souvenirs in Changchun are supposed to be correlated with local characteristics and folk culture.In addition,the combination of art design technology and local resources might be also beneficial to customer satisfactory souvenirs products.Possible strategies to increase sales performance might be including implanting the concept of “unique,portable,special”.With the concept of small profits and quick return,similar method might also be appropriate for selling souvenirs.It has been well-established that souvenirs market contributes to the development of tourisms,which further drives economic development of Changchun.We found problems present in the market of tourism souvenirs by analyzing tourism resources and status of tourism souvenirs of Changchun.The purpose of thisstudy was to design and produce suitable souvenirs based on different features of various sightseeing spots,with application of local-characteristic patterns.We took those souvenirs sold in Manchoukuo Palace as samples and designed appropriated ones with local characteristics.Moreover,we strived to make innovation in areas of souvenirs design,propel the development of culture,and solve the current problems in tourism souvenirs of Changchun.Furthermore,other purposes of this study included increasing sales of souvenirs to promote the development of tourism industry,enhancing the city reputation to increase employment opportunities,and eventually exploring a sustainable way for the market of tourism souvenir in Changchun.The research findings might be beneficial for further investigation in similar topics of other regions.
