With the constant improvement of technology, electromechanical products are developing rapidly with its more and more powerful function which is an essential element in our life. At mean time, product's value is generally increasing. If there is inadequate consideration of external threats and product's damage mechanism and damage form when reacting to these threats during design phase, products that function normally would get unexpected damages and may suffer serious consequences even with little external threat.Therefore, this article put forward the concept of electromechanical product's vulnerability and provided the basis for product's vulnerability design by establishing a vulnerability's evaluation method based on the sensitivity study of product's damage degree to its external threats.Applying vulnerability related research in various fields as theoretical basis, this article defined electromechanical product's vulnerability and carried out further discussion considering electromechanical product's characteristics and the purpose of this research, and then, an evaluation method of electromechanical product's vulnerability was put forward.Firstly, product's structure and function was analyzed, product's potential external threats ware identified. Moreover, product's potential damage mechanism and damage methods caused by these threats were analyzed. Secondly, critical vulnerable components under different types of threat were determined by applying DMEA method and the critical components were taken as a representative for the whole product. Then, data of damage degree when product is under different intense threats was collected and possessed. Based on the possessed data, a function expression was determined by drawing the curves of damage degree's change under threats with different strength and fitting the curves. Furthermore,based on the determination and possessing of key points using the function expression,calculation formula of product's vulnerability under each threat was formed and vulnerability was calculated. Finally, this article verified the effectiveness of the evaluation method based on an example of a specific vehicle.
