In addition to A surface(the surface that the passengers can see) modeling design, the design and layout of the feature structures of B surface(the surface that the passengers can't see) are also crucial in the door trim panel design. This paper designs the snap-fit structure and its layout for door trim panel. The main contents of this paper as follows:The strength of doghouse is analyzed with the finite method, the effects of the thickness of door trim panel and the ratio of the root thinning height and the effective height of doghouse on the strength of doghouse are studied. Based on 4-pieces type of snap-fit structure model, the assembly and disassembly process of snap-fit structure is analyzed, and the effects of the thickness of body panels and the diameter of the installation hole on the force are studied. Finally, the parameter specification of snap-fit structure is obtained by summarizing the results of analysis and the experience of engineers.The layout of the snap-fit structure on the door trim panel is studied, the layout design system of the snap-fit structure and the side core-pulling direction detection module are developed based on UG8.5. Four kinds of layout scheme are finished using the layout system.The effect of the snap-fit structure's layout on the mechanical property of door trim panel is studied with finite method. The stiffness of door trim panel is analyzed, schemes A and C are chosen because they have a smaller overall deformation.The effect of the snap-fit structure's layout schemes on the forming performance of door trim panel is studied with finite method. Considering from fill time, shrink mark index, weld lines and deflection, schemes A is chosen as the final layout of the snap-fit structure on door trim panel.The results of this study can significantly improve the design efficiency and performance of snap-fit structure on B surface of door trim panel. The results also has a reference value for the standardization of snap-fit structure and has practical significance for the optimization design of door trim panel.
