With the rapid development of Chinese and the global economy, increasingly booming port logistics activities, port facilities, in particular the increasing orders for cranes,demand to enhance the design efficiency and shorten the design period. Meanwhile rapid development of standardization and computer technology, innovative design methods of crane structure, the relatively stable structure design process provide the possibilities for digital design of the crane. Therefore, parametric analysis simulation in crane design plays a vital role.Currently, the structural design of the crane mainly is analyzed by commercial finite element software,such as Ansys,Abaqus,while ordinary designer is not competernt for the work.Although they are familiar with the structure of the product, due to lack of experience and knowledge related to the traditional ANSYS finite element software,they merely compelete the analysis. In order to make it possible for the ordinary designers to quickly complete finite analysis of crane and accurately draw engineering drawings, we complete a software platform to automatically proceeding Finite Element Analsys based on development of Ansys Workbench and Excel(CraneSim).Then we us gantry crane girder cylinder as an example, comparing the results from CraneSim and classic Ansys to verify the reliability and efficiency of the platform, finally completing automatically generation of the main beam and cylinder engineering drawings. The main work is completed as follows: 1) Crane design interface. Including the design of the gantry crane parts tree interface, the crane girder cylinders, bipod finite element, establishing the database by Access and inporting datas,the functions of database query, delete, add, save, error detection,etc. 2) Three-dimensional parametric modeling. Solidworks API is developed by Excel VBA to create the parameterized dimensional Solidworks model of gantry crane, automatically engineering drawings of parts through inputting datas in the user interface. 3) Completion of the Ansys Workbench secondary development, introducing the method and tools of secondary development, automated analysis of the structure of the structure by js script files, meanwhile developing the Workbench toolbar, menu bar,user customization wizard to assisting users to proceed analysis simulation.
