With the escalation of the market economy and the forestry industry, forestry machineryis widely used in various fields of forestry production. Forestry crane is a kind of forestrymachinery, which can finish wood collection, loading, transportation. It is a specialtruck-mounted crane with high transfer efficiency, flexibility and other characteristics. Inorder to improve the overall mechanical properties of the forestry crane structure, thispaper developed a parametric finite element analysis program about forestry cranestructure, and a software about structural analysis and optimization.This paper referred to the study of the forestry cranes and developed the finite elementanalysis program of forestry crane structure with ANSYS parametric design language as atool. It can automatically finish the entire process including building crane parametricmodel, applying loading conditions, conducting numerical analysis and obtainingpost-processing results. Analysis of stiffness, strength and buckling stability was achievedabout the crane arm body structure under the typical working conditions. The data of thestatic strength about crane structure was gained. Finally stress testing was done on-site. Bycomparison test and simulated values, it verified the accuracy of finite element simulationresults. Secondly, the finite element analysis about the dynamic characteristics of forestrycranes was finished, including modal analysis, harmonic analysis and lifting load transientresponse analysis, which determines the dynamic characteristics, such as stress anddisplacement, under dynamic loading condition. It can better grasp of the structuraldynamic characteristics of the crane, which benefit to improve the quality of structuraldesign. Finally, visual Basic6.0programming software develops software interface for thedevelopment of finite element analysis program package ANSYS software toautomatically back call analysis, and automatically generate analysis reports, simplifyingthe complex finite element analysis. simplifying the complex process of finite elementanalysis, to shorten development cycles of products, to reduce the designing costs and toimprove the quality and reliability of products.
