A Study On Residential Area Scale Based On The Sightline Analysis

Residential Exterior Space has always been the research focus, especially in recent years due to the rapid development in estate industry. Unfortunately, most of the developers emphasize the landscape effect too much without taking the function and the corresponding scale of the Exterior Space into serious consideration. Lots of these Residential Exterior Space design cases failed to develop their own function characteristics and improve the standard of living effectively, thus make residential exterior space negative for the residents.People's need for outdoor activities and face-to-face communication near their houses is increasing although they have less time now in the fast paced society. Resulting from the fact, Residential Exterior Space should be a place meets the requirements that people want to relax themselves, unload their heart, and communicate with others conveniently. As a result, Residential Exterior Space design is extremely important for it affects the living quality of the residents directly.This paper discusses the related design form and methods using data analysis, case study combined with the architecture, planning, and the theory of environmental psychology theory, location space discipline theory knowledge of spatial hierarchy of residential status analysis. In addition, the paper also discusses the scale of the residential space hierarchy and the combination by applying the line of sight of GIS analysis technology and environmental psychology and environmental behavior level to the combination of residential space design.The first part analyses some existing problems in the design of the Residential Exterior Space, and the different activity characteristics of the residents, concludes the spatial levels and characteristics of spatial levels, as well as all kinds of activities psychological types in different types of space, etc.After that, the paper analyses the dimensions and the shapes of the residential areas in different level, compares several forms of residential area design by using the line of sight of GIS analysis technology, simulating the sight scope, open degrees of the spaces. At last, news theory is put forward which will guide the design of the different levels and dimensions of Residential Exterior Space by combing all the new findings with the olds.
