Furniture is an indispensable item as a necessity and a display in human's life,whose significance is manifest.In any era,the importance of furniture is remarkable,as it is not only an industry of interior design,but also a symbol of specific Chinese tradition and aesthetic ideology.It witnesses the progress of history,and the evolution of an era.Up to today,furniture has developed from primary necessity of life into a combination of contemporary art and pragmatic nature.For some furniture,its artistic value is even far beyond its pragmatic value.For the whole time in Chinese history,Buddhism existing together with Confucianism and Taoism,interconnected with each other and infiltrated into each other,which had a great impact on the combined ideology of Buddhism,Confucianism and Taoism in Chinese culture.Buddhism ideology was widely received in Song Dynasty to the most extent,whose influence is still evident in today.This paper systematically reviewed literatures,photos and videos,investigated archeology of Buddhism history,state-of-art furniture history.Materials were analyzed,researched and summarized.By comparing the real object of Buddhism sculpture in Song Dynasty with pictures and literatures,this paper took pictures and real objects as the proof of history,discussed pictures with history vice versa,making history,picture and object correlated with each other.Furthermore,with reference to the theory of Buddhism art and the perspective of Buddhism sculpture,this paper thoroughly investigated furniture used in Buddhism sculpture in Song Dynasty.The main research results of this paper are as follows:1?By studying the images and historical records of Buddhist sculptures and drawing on the theory of Buddhist art and furniture culture,the furniture in the Buddhist sculpture of Song Dynasty is systematically classified and summarized.2 ?
