Population Density,Public Demand And Environmental Regulation Performance

With the development of urbanization,the population density has increased dramatically and the urban environmental governance has become more and more concerned.In the recent years of environmental pollution incidents,the public participation has become more and more active,and the government has taken active measures to improve the environment.However,in the current situation of China's economic development,major environmental problems still occur,and environmental regulation performance has not achieved good results.How to improve the performance of environmental regulation more effectively is a problem that needs to be solved in the current situation of the party central committee attaching great importance to public demands.In the overseas,the research on environmental regulation performance mainly includes the following three aspects:the use of different measurement tool to research environmental regulation performance,the surrounding environment of library Kuznets curve analysis of environmental regulation performance and the influence of environmental regulation performance of economic subject.In our country,the research on environmental regulation performance also can be divided into the following three aspects:the costs and benefits of environmental regulation,the study of environmental regulation performance evaluation system and research on environmental regulation performance from the perspective of regulators.For environmental regulation performance,however,the main influencing factors as well as the relationship between various factors without a finer step research,although along with the further improvement of the government policy and implementation,there have been some scholars appeal to the public and government regulation has explored,but still lack of specific research conclusion.Compared with the public demand,the research on population density in environmental regulation performance is much less.Therefore,in this paper,the innovation of the landing in the following two points:one is that the population density,the public demands and environmental performance into a research system of rules and regulations,on this basis,to explore the effects of environmental regulation in China for the specific reason for the significant impact.Secondly,this paper USES the threshold panel regression model to find the optimal population density and provides a clearer solution to improve the performance of China's environmental regulation.Based on this,this paper USES a combination of mechanism analysis and empirical model,from the perspective of population density and the public appeal to analyze the effect of the present Chinese environmental regulation,the results showed that the population density and the role of the public demands for environmental regulation performance in line with environmental Kuznets curve theory,and through this theory can analyze the present problem of environmental regulation in our country,to find a more accurate solution,to improve the environmental regulation performance is of great significance in our country.First of all,this article combed the domestic and foreign to the population density,the public demands and environmental regulation performance of the research and development,this paper introduces the methods of research on environmental regulation performance,evaluation system and the impact on the economy,can more clearly see the path for the performance of environmental regulation research in China.At the same time,through the existing theory to analysis in today's China's national conditions under the effect of environmental regulation,combined with the fact finding data population density and environmental regulation performance appears inverted "U" type of relationship,and the library environmental Kuznets theory conclusion is consistent,the population density and there are significant positive linear relationship with the public demands,in the present situation of economic development in China,there is also a public appeal and environmental regulation performance,on this basis,this paper puts forward the reasonable empirical assumptions.This indicates that it is feasible and practical to integrate population density and public demand into environmental regulation performance.Secondly,the method of dynamic panel system GMM estimation method and threshold panel regression estimation method are used to analyze and test the empirical hypotheses presented earlier.The empirical part of this article is mainly to the data of 30 provincial cities in our country as the research object,research conclusion and the empirical results are consistent,namely population density and the environmental regulation performance is inverted "U" shaped relationship,combined with environmental Kuznets theory can be found that the level of economic development in our country has not yet reached to achieve environmental and economic win-win,so with the increase of population density,environmental pollution is more serious in our country,lead to low environmental regulation performance.In this case,the public demand plays an obvious role in promoting the performance of environmental regulation,and the public demand will benefit the improvement of urban environment in China.Further,the population density in order to find a suitable to adapt to the development level in our country,this article use regression model to find the optimal threshold panel population density,the optimum population density is suitable for the present our country the development of the city level,can temporarily alleviate the contradiction between environment and economic development in our country.This also indicates that urbanization brings about the increase of urban population density in China and needs to improve the level of economic development to adapt to it.Finally,this paper puts forward the following policy Suggestions:(1)to maintain the urban population density and the local economic development level.In the current situation of our country,population density is not better,and in order to balance environmental and economic development,the population density and economic development level must be kept in a consistent pace.(2)the power of public appeal.The government needs to pay more attention to the public's demands on the environment,encourage the public to supervise the environment,and innovate public complaints channels.(3)improving the level of economic and technological development.The effective way to solve the environmental problem is to develop the economy while improving the technological level so as to not only accelerate economic development,but also reduce environmental pollution and protect the environment.
