The silverwork of Yi Nationality is closely related to the natural geographical environment,the life style and the culture of the people,the religious belief and the aesthetic concept.In early,the silver is used as currency in Liang Shan market,a symbol of wealth.Aslarge amounts of silver flowed into the closed state through opium trade,the silver,as the substitution of copper,got more appreciation by the Yi people.The silverwork is different due to different district,limb,and dialect even though they are all belong to Yi nationality.Thousands and hundreds years history give generous and abundantcultural connotation.It is not only an ornament and also a physical therapy to their body,which is indispensable for Yi people.Based on the analyses of the traditional silverwork in Liang Shan,the author studied its future development and the aesthetic expression.The integration of the innovation concept,the collocation of various material and pattern,the combination of traditional figure and fashion characteristic give more possibility to silverwork of Yi people,conforming to contemporaryaesthetic needs.The compound design method give it unique appearances,and bring the trend of the Yi people's silverwork to spread all over the world.
