The Research And Demonstration On Industrial Water Footprint Of Textiles

The rational utilization of water resources is a significant problem of the people's living.Under the background that many countries take the strategy of sustainable development,consequently broad concern has been aroused by the reasonable,efficient,full utilization of the water resources,and the shortage and pollution of water resource threats and restricts the sustainable development of human,so to solve these problems about water is more urgent.The present situation of textile industry that it uses a lot of water and makes a lot of waste water and has outdated water treatment and utilization technologies has damaged China's natural environment.In recent years,the concept of water footprint gives the managers of water resources a new thought of water management.The research of water footprint solved the limitations of the cost and technologies in water studies,and it will produce great influence in the sustainable development of water resources.But the textile water footprint research in China is weak now,so the research in this paper about textile water footprint has certain theoretical and practical significance.In the background of the sustainable development of water resources,this paper researched the water footprint of textile industry.Through the questionnaire investigation to obtain whether enterprises and consumers support and accept water footprint of textiles or not;according to the water footprint theory basis and textile industry status,this paper puts forward the concept of industrial water footprint,and establish accounting model;combined with enterprise demonstration,the model is revised,and solve data collection and distribution problems.Based on how much the public and the textile industry know about water footprint,we investigated textile enterprises and consumers,and we obtained 767 consumer questionnaires and 90 enterprise questionnaires.Through the SPSS software to analysis investigation questionnaires and we got that more than 90%enterprises or consumers were interested in water footprint assessment,and they supported the research of textile water footprint.According to the water footprint theory basis and textile industry status,we determined the boundary of industrial water footprint of textile industry(organization and textiles)and established accounting model.The boundary of industrial water footprint was defined industrial processing chain of textiles(from raw materials into the factory to textile products leave factory).Accounting model includes seven aspects:accounting target,accounting boundary,accounting content,data collection,accounting method,the coefficient and quality standards,and so on.This model also is a norm of industrial water footprint of textile industry.Based on the textile industrial water footprint accounting model that we established,we chose 3 typical textile enterprises in our country to demonstrate.The processing chain of main products in these 3 industries covers spinning period,weaving period,dyeing period and clothing period.We learned the processing chain of the main products and obtained data on using of water,we calculated industrial water footprint of organization and the representative products according to accounting model:the industrial water footprint of jeans enterprise is 256.90t/t;the industrial water footprint of representative products like knitted fabric(dyeing),jeans and woven fabrics(dyeing)is 912.91t/t,184.36t/t,762.53t/t.At last,we developed water-saving methods according to the enterprise actuality,and we measured how much water we can save if we use these water-saving methods,the data we calculated will be helpful to promote to carry out these water-saving methods.According to the process of the enterprise demonstration,we got a way to assess the industrial water footprint of textile industry:the way of direct industrial water footprint and indirect industrial water footprint.In this page,we put forward the method of data collection and theory basis,and we took the methodology for enterprise industrial water footprint evaluation,the assessment of industrial water footprint will promote the rational utilization of water resources and the progress of water management.
