There are more than 417 thousand primary schools and middle schools,with an estimated number of 208 million students in China(2014).The group of school-aged students is extremely large and coverage wide.School uniform is a symbol of their identity,and the embodiment of students group and national image,which undertakes the task of displaying school culture,advocating equity,optimizing cultivation environment,promoting students mental and physical development and other important functions.Therefore,project on customary application and stylized system of school uniform is urgent and important.People's Republic of China successively enacted its national flag in September 27th1949,national emblem in September 20 th 1950 and national anthem in December 4th1982 without mentioning its national costume.Looking around the world,western countries all had their own national costume as customary system or decrees and regulations system before French Revolution in 1789.After French Revolution,they immediately embraced western formal attire and launched stylized system.From then on,costume customary application and decrees and regulations systems of western countries gradually converged.In ancient China,dynasties stipulated costume systems based on status hierarchy.Though these systems were not the same,they were all severe and stern.First Emperor of Qin and the Kangxi Emperor were both emperors,yet they dressed in different manners.Thus,costume norm should also be regarded as one kind of national norms.In this paper,firstly I introduce customary application and current situation of stylized costume system at home and abroad.School uniform,one of many badge of identification costumes,also has complete development system in Chinese history.Since Republic of China was founded,males wore upper outer garments and trousers while females wore dresses and frocks with white yarn socks and round opening shoes as accessories.Since People's Republic of China was founded,research on domestic theory and application of school uniform gradually lagged behind foreign countries due to social environment and people's cognition.Without a system,China badly needs sophisticated customary application of school uniform.The nongovernmental appeal to reform school uniform and stylized system grew intensely strong since 2013.Low market-based degree caused by market access system made it impossible to research on school uniform.Although some research institutes and quality inspection were set up,these institutes mainly focused on product assessment.This paper undergoes conclusion and summary of previous theories' framework with various discipline theories,including sociology,pedagogy,aesthetics and relevant discipline knowledge.Collecting materials from historical view with the method of respecting history and improving history materials,which starts from the essence of school uniform,gives an elaborate explanation on the appearance of costume.The realization of this project adopts field study,collecting materials,deduction and other methods.Based on relative policies,regulations and guidance,this project cooperates with Chongqing Students' Uniform Research and Development Technology Center and Fashionable Dress Institute in Guangdong province.According to the time-dominated guideline,this project sums up costume system with domestic customary application and foreign stylized system.Supported by historical materials and relevant disciplines,cultural deposits are dug out from Chinese history and design concept is built from western countries,Korea and Japan,highlighting the role of school uniform in the comprehensive range of costume customary application and stylized system and studying the appearance of school uniform and the relationship between school uniform and customary application.There is a comprehensive theory and application research on Chinese school uniform and stylized system and improving design concept,suit norms and industry criterion of Chinese school uniform.Since the customary application of students uniform is not conceived at will,the research based on several kind of theories,to some extent,has scientific value.This project is socially forward-looking and creative.Firstly,compared with previous situations that unduly emphasize technology and market,a complete theory system is set up.Secondly,this is the first time to summarize systematically costume customary application and stylized system in the field of studying school uniform.Thirdly,belonging and development of school uniform are defined.At last,a market model of school uniform is brought forward.Based on history tradition and international customary application,stylized system is divided into two types with the occasion as standard: formal attire and informal dress.Then the conclusion is obtained that China has costume customary application during the past thousands of years,and which is true in foreign countries.The status quo is that China lacks customary application since People's Republic of China was founded.School uniform is also a kind of formal attire and informal dress,and customary application of school uniform should be established urgently.This paper is centered on materials,colors,styles and market,determining four types of formal attires and two types of informal dresses as customary costume for Chinese students.There are male and female costumes on the basis of gender,spring and autumn,summer and winter costumes on the basis of season and formal and informal costumes on the basis of occasion.Formal attires include primary attire,daily attire and Chinese-style attire.The primary attire includes morning attire and evening attire.Daily attire includes western-style suit and sports suit.Different suits meet different occasions.Formal attires are required in solemn occasions,like national flag raising and celebration gathering.Western-style suits are required in classroom learning and sports suit in PE class.Improving collocation of every kind of attire,the primary suit consists of upper suit and trousers;the assisted suits include shirt,vest,socks,shoes;the accessory includes buckles and hats.Such design requires different materials and colors and meets the needs of Chinese students.It also expands the application of school uniform,establishes customary system for Chinese students and provides thorough design concept,product criterion and marketing system.It is a bit difficult to implement this project.As exam-oriented education system currently prevails in China,the intensity of learning atmosphere makes it hard to fully carry out customary system of school uniform.However,the improvement of theory already strides an important step.Driven by growing comprehensive strength and international forces,China gradual attention to costume customary system and parents' expectation of their children' developing in an all-round way,it is possible to apply customary system and stylized system of school uniform to schools.
