Electrolytic machining knowledge plays an important role in an electrolytic process. The electrolytic process knowledge exists in all aspects of electrolytic machining. It is needed to establish a digital management system of electrolytic machining process knowledge to assist technicians. This paper studies the development of the digital management system of electrolytic machining process knowledge, including its database development and front-end interface design. The requirement of electrolytic machining industry is analyzed. The functions and man-machine interface of the digital management system is determined. The system design objectives and principles are worked out. Then, the frame structure of the digital management system is designed and its flow chart is drawn. By comparison, Access database is selected as its background database and Basic Visual 6.0 is selected as the system development tool to design the front-end interface. And then, the key techniques used in the design and development of the system are discussed, that is, the link between the Access database and Basic Visual 6.0 and the directory tree using Tree View control. The developed function modules of the digital management system include system login, user registration, data input, data modification, data query and data deletion. The knowledge contents include motor database, tool cathode database, electrolyte database, electrochemical machine database, machining parameter database, and national standard library. The establishment of the digital management system of electrolytic machining process knowledge can achieve the induction and reorganization of the electrolytic machining process knowledge. The system also has a friendly man-machine interface, which is convenient for users to operate.
