Boro is a Japanese Traditional Textile, exist in Tohoku “snow country” – Aomori Prefecture. Hundreds of different indigo dyed cotton and hemp fabrics are stitched together with the rough needlework. The Traditional Chinese Patchwork, originating from the ordinary civil life and referring to the pieces of fabric put into complete clothing according to the composition laws, is practical and enjoyable.This article has made a comparative research on the following seven aspects: basic concept,historical origin, type, fabric, color, sewing technology and culture. Among of them, the basic concept, historical and type are the premise and foundation of this article, while the others are the main points.The purpose of this comparative research is to find the difference and connection between boro and the traditional Chinese patchwork and to explore the causes of this difference and connection. After that, to analysis why the Japanese boro can be popular and fashion, the Traditional Chinese patchwork is obscure and dressed less. As a young designer, should stand in the heritage and development of traditional crafts, thinking about how to change this phenomenon, and draw the conclusion.
