The Application Research Of Chinese Traditional Patchwork

Chinese traditional patchwork has a very long history. In different historical periods, it hasdifferent applications and different forms in the clothing, as different cultural symbols,conveying different ideas and reflecting humanistic ideas, philosophy, social customs and so on.In the evolution of patchwork, it has been given a cultural meaning more than treated as a simplestyle. In the development from the material to the spiritual, from the visible to the invisible, fromthe practical to the fashion, patchwork has formed a trend. Chinese Traditional Patchwork is theproduct of adapting to the environment by human, the emergence of it is not an accident, isformed by the influence of objective and subjective factors.In this paper, the collection objects of National Costume Museum from Beijing Institute ofFashion Technology is taken as research objects. It analysis the aesthetic features of Chinesetraditional patchwork from four aspects, they are forms, colors, materials and technology. Itsunique personality is not only based on Chinese traditional clothing aesthetic and Chinesetraditional arts and crafts, but also walking at the forefront of the times. It is not satisfied with thelimitations of the community, eagering to break the shackles, expressing deep understanding byusing the simplest, easiest and most direct way. It has produced a revolt against tradition, whichis due to the pursuit of beauty that is absolutely free and full release. It does not stick to any form,nor pay attention to color matching theory, the material is cloth head, needle craft is the mostcommon method, but it turns into the most beautiful works of art.In short, Chinese traditional patchwork is an art form which is both ancient and modern, andhas a very strong vitality. Chinese traditional patchwork was born early, it contains a richhistorical background and rich cultural heritage; the techniques of Chinese traditional patchworkare popular, the creating awareness is ahead, which can convergence with the current fads. Itsvitality lies in the Chinese traditional patchwork will be more in the future by the world’sattention, and provide a powerful help for the fashion design. It has a great value in terms offashion design innovative applications, and spurred the development of the future generation ofnew knowledge clothing.
